Enter into the world of spray tans, fake eyelashes, and inappropriate clothing. This may be a normal sight for older women, but on young girls it is quite disturbing. This is the world of children's beauty pageants, where young girls are subject to self-esteem issues, unnecessary stress, loss of innocence, the damaging focus on appearance, and the inappropriate sexualizing of children. Are beauty pageants beneficial to young girls? No,they do nothing but cause damage in many areas of a girl's life.
Why are these young girls exposed to such harmful situations? There are no restrictions for the protection of young girls in pageants. It is normal to see toddlers being spray-tanned, or wearing fake teeth to perfect their smiles. Isn't this morally wrong? Are parents compromising a young child's innocence, for the chance of winning a crown? To protect the fragile young girls from a lifetime of self-esteem issues, there should be regulations regarding the use of different beauty products on young girls.
